When you get industrial piercing do you have to get a longer bar initially for swelling?

I had mine pierced about 2 months ago and I would say that you should keep the bar that they pierce you with in for at LEAST 3 weeks before switching it. Mine swelled quite a bit for the first week or so. I'm looking to get a bar that is similar to that and they are usually longer than the piercing bars but they are a little more difficult to put in with a fresh piercing.
